Ride Report - MEGA MTB Saturday Ride

Welcome to the second MEGA MTB Saturday ride. Contray to the name, the ride is a shortish 30-40km, beginner friendly ride by Dylan (me) from Mega Bike. We had a great turn out for this awesome ride, once a couple met us along the way, there were 6 in total.

After a great warmup from the Mega Bike shop front, we met Oscar and Jason at the trail head and started to climb up to Lynton

Heading over to the top of Glouster's we decided to slightly modify the ride from the week before to get some additional runs of the DH trails at Sheppards Hill in. The great thing about these trails is that they offer a wide range of difficulties and most technical trail features have A and B lines.

The A line is for the more advanced riders and the B line is for the more beginner riders. There is even a couple of spots that will challenge the most accomplished of riders. This makes a great group ride as it is easy to session the trail that matches your skill level or choose one that is a little more of a challenge.

Jumps and Berms like the one above are great as you can select the speed you are comfortable with and go for it. The faster guys had some fun sessioning one of the looser corners to see how fast they could go.

By the time we moved on, Jack was definately carrying some speed through the corner.

Oscar was also getting into it. Its great to see his riding develop as he gets faster and fitter. Even over the two Saturday morning rides he seems to be picking up some of what the faster guys are doing.

Half shells and goggles. Get the 'enduro' style on, Jack is ripping through this berm.

Cool days and great views. Jason giving the same corner a shot.

I love this tree, its a great spot to frame a rider and get some of the hillside behind. This is Oscar looking pro with the colour coordinated kit above and below.

Jason has his eye further down the trail. Its actually one of the best things a mountain biker can do, focus futher down the trail and lift his or her head up. This will mean that they will have more time to react to the trail features ahead.

Its awesome to be able to go for a spin and come back to great coffee just down the road from the bike shop. We finished up the ride by relaxing and talking bikes at the coffee shop around the corner.

Thats all folks.
