Belair Cold Lap - Ride Report

Belair National Park holds some great hidden sections of single track, especailly along the Adventure Loop.

Heading out with Graeme and Oscar we rode up Pony Ridge, one of the hardest singletrack climbs in Adelaide. Very quickly I realised that Graeme was struggling on his 26" steel HT and I offered to swap bike for the duration of the ride (I was on a 29er HT). The difference was amazing, Graeme managed to ride up most of the climbs involved, it was like his fitness doubled in 30 seconds. 29er's are definately the way to go for XC riding, although he did comment that it was a little slower on the way down. From experience, it does take awhile to get used to the bigger wheels, especially on the tighter switchbacks.
